This got me a thinking about the old days,so I decided to log in, just for the fun of looking around for a few. Got online and did the customary /who all friends just in case any of my old buds were online. No such luck. Then I checked out the /claim and got my 10 year cake! Yeah! Did a /played for my own information, my first character isn’t quite at 10 years yet, not until February. Then I noticed I had a bunch of other claims available to me.

One was odd had like 1000 uses left to it. Gift of Lost Legacies.. so I claimed it. I received two 10 stack of potions 3 pieces of armor all better then what I had on .. it was the Defiant stuff.. a new weapon (which I did have better of) and a book with 5 charges of port to PoK. I think this is awesome, part of the problem I have had in the past with trying to go back to Everquest, is that my gear just is not good enough for the newer zones. This allows me to gear back up and go hunt without having to go back to the older expansions that no one is in to get re geared. One of the potions is the Adventurer Potions which allows you to increase your exp for 30 minutes. I guess you can now buy these with real cash. So they have given returning players 5 hours of increased exp which is nice. I have not checked out the new mercenary system, but I think it has something to do with hiring PC’s to hunt with you. I find that kind of sad, means that the server populations have dropped so much people need to hire people to hunt with them. eqtheme

First off let me just say I was the leader of both of these guilds. We started off as Honor Unbound, which was chosen as the name by Fazter. We later needed to make a new guild because back in the day if someone joined your guild you could not disband them unless you knew they were online. This made things very difficult if you had a falling out with someone. You could not see them is they were anon and you could not disband all of their alts. Anyway, needless to say we did run into this problem. We made a new guild by the name of Mixed Nuts, which still exists to the day. I have met so many wonderful people through my EQ travels. Some of the most fun I have ever had in my life has been raiding with the group of people that fell under the Mixed Nuts spell. We were a “fun” adult guild. We raided and did people’s epics. We were in no way uber, but wonderfully capable. We ran events like the Monkey Mash, where you built a level 1 monk and then went to the arena and dueled with other level ones. You were only allowed to roll /random 69 in our guild and if you by chance got a 69 you were awarded from the guild bank. So below is a video I made to share some of my memories.

So I was sitting around, and looking through myspace, trying to find some old Everquest friends. When it realized that searching down some of the old guilds would be fun and maybe pay them a little tribute. My first pick is Drunkards Of Norrath.

With a wonderfully fun leader like Twyl how could they have gone wrong? This guild was infamous for laying down liquer in the zones they were in for all to enjoy. They were also just a rough and ruggedbunch of fun people who made the game even more enjoyable. I miss them all. I have stolen thier video from thier website so you all can get a taste of the enjoyment the cazic thule server got on a daily basis.

I totally dig the trades in EverQuest. I always have, even back when you ad no idea what you were combining. Being a smith has always been my calling but I have over 200 in all the skills. I love most of the changes and updates they have made over the years to the system, which has made it more robust and also offer some really killer gear. I am a regular visitor to eqtraders.com, and enjoy reading their forums. They have always been the first source for help and spoiler info on anything to do with trades in EverQuest. That being said, with all of the changes, I have found that finding the info on a lot of the new combines for all of the new drops a little convoluted. I have a hard time finding what I need. SO much so I have like 60 favorites for their site, just so I don’t have to click around for the recipe or loot table I need. I have also found with the trades updates I have had to print out a lot of reference material. It is almost like old school again with all the books of maps. The other problem I am having is the confusion of the symbols with the armor. What you have to quest for and what you can just buy books in Plane of Knowledge for. So I thought I would write some installments on what is what, and how it works, in the way I understand it.

First Symbol Books vs. Recipe Books

Every race has a master artisan in their starting city so let’s go through those:

Half Elf- Vor Westrider – North Qeynos or Nala Goldenthorn – Kelethin

Iksar – Sieeva Koan – East Cabilis

Ogre – Garth Okken – Ogguk

Troll – Zermak -Grobb

Vah Shir – Vuro Padfoot – Shar Vahl

Wood Elf: Calian Silverlake – Kelethin

On a side note most of these can be found with the “find” command ctrl+f.

Now that you have found your artisan, they have like 5 different quests on them 1 for you cultural armor and 4 for the symbols. Now let’s say for arguments sake you just want to get the stuff to make your armor right now and don’t care about making the totally nifty augments for it. So get the quest that says nothing about actually zones. It should be fairly simply just need a few little things here and there , like for Gabs I needed a Pouch of Mistletoe Powder, Fungus Sap, Small Brick of Yttrium Ore, and Metallic Drake Scales. Now after you get the stuff you need to go turn it back in, which you quest log will tell you. Once you do this you will get your ancestral book. Now this book is used to make a backpack full of either molds or patterns depending on which armor you make. In the next installment I will explain how to make the back pack and then how to make a piece of armor. Don’t worry I will get to how the symbol work and how we make those also.

So I was taking a look at my mains creation date, and although I am not from beta or even from Ever Quest’s original release date, my characters are old. So my first character was a Dark Elf Wizard, created in February of 2002. Jacqui (yes, I used my REAL name as my character name I didn’t know what I was doing) died with on a daily basis, and could not find groups.
I mean really who wants the wizzie when the druid can do just as much damage and heal. So about 8 months later I made a High Elf Cleric. Good ol’ Gabs Alot. I have loved her since the day I made her. She is group friendly, and everyone wants to hang with her and pay her for buffage. What I didn’t know and found out as I got older was soloing was not really an option… yeah, yeah, yeah, I have heard of the weird battle clerics.. not my deal really. So I had to spend a lot of time looking for pickups and hoping there was room with my friends. This was great for a long time right up until 2003 when a lot of my friends were not playing as often and I was not into a lot a raiding. It was at the point I made myself a Vah’Shir Beast lord. This class rocks, huge pet comparable to the Mage. She also comes with slows, shaman buffs, and mad dps like a monk. Sbag (yes GABS backwards, I really suck at this whole naming thing.) is by far my favorite character to play, she is both group friendly and solo able. Anyway I duo (bot) them most nights, either in groups in Loping Planes or somewhere like Halls of Honor.

What was awsome is that I was totally confused, in the good way. I wasn’t being told by every NPC walking by what to do and how to do it. I was totally baffled by even taking a look in my bank. The more I seemed to play and look around the more I just wanted to keep in playing. What was unfortunate for me is that I always pay for my Station account so that I can have access to Vanguard and Everquest 2 if I want to mess around in them. Anyway Everquest is offering a cool 2 months free, plus a full set of the Defiant armor that rocks.. all if you will come back and give Everquest a chance again. What is really awsome about it is TONS of old school Everquest players are coming back. I am having a ton of fun everynight grouping up with my cleric in Loping Planes. So anyway if you are from Everquest or ever thought of playing NOW is the time.
