I totally dig the trades in EverQuest. I always have, even back when you ad no idea what you were combining. Being a smith has always been my calling but I have over 200 in all the skills. I love most of the changes and updates they have made over the years to the system, which has made it more robust and also offer some really killer gear. I am a regular visitor to eqtraders.com, and enjoy reading their forums. They have always been the first source for help and spoiler info on anything to do with trades in EverQuest. That being said, with all of the changes, I have found that finding the info on a lot of the new combines for all of the new drops a little convoluted. I have a hard time finding what I need. SO much so I have like 60 favorites for their site, just so I don’t have to click around for the recipe or loot table I need. I have also found with the trades updates I have had to print out a lot of reference material. It is almost like old school again with all the books of maps. The other problem I am having is the confusion of the symbols with the armor. What you have to quest for and what you can just buy books in Plane of Knowledge for. So I thought I would write some installments on what is what, and how it works, in the way I understand it.

First Symbol Books vs. Recipe Books

Every race has a master artisan in their starting city so let’s go through those:

Barbarian – Kjell Sunrunner -Halas

Dark Elf – Dosan Vis`Moor -Neriak Commons

Dwarf – Yar Shiverbrow – South Kaladim

Erudite – Gorion Telld’mare -Erudin or Korzan Virimove – Paineel

Froglok (Guktan) – Skekta Froreki – Rathe Mountains

Gnome – Vidi Cogsworthy – Ak’Anon)

Half Elf- Vor Westrider – North Qeynos or Nala Goldenthorn – Kelethin

Halfling – Bill Whistletop – Rivervale

High Elf – Elistar Vorann – North Felwithe

Human – Tar Cordell – North Qeynos or Vivian Selgan – West Freeport

Iksar – Sieeva Koan – East Cabilis

Ogre – Garth Okken – Ogguk

Troll – Zermak -Grobb

Vah Shir – Vuro Padfoot – Shar Vahl

Wood Elf: Calian Silverlake – Kelethin

On a side note most of these can be found with the “find” command ctrl+f.

Now that you have found your artisan, they have like 5 different quests on them 1 for you cultural armor and 4 for the symbols. Now let’s say for arguments sake you just want to get the stuff to make your armor right now and don’t care about making the totally nifty augments for it. So get the quest that says nothing about actually zones. It should be fairly simply just need a few little things here and there , like for Gabs I needed a Pouch of Mistletoe Powder, Fungus Sap, Small Brick of Yttrium Ore, and Metallic Drake Scales. Now after you get the stuff you need to go turn it back in, which you quest log will tell you. Once you do this you will get your ancestral book. Now this book is used to make a backpack full of either molds or patterns depending on which armor you make. In the next installment I will explain how to make the back pack and then how to make a piece of armor. Don’t worry I will get to how the symbol work and how we make those also.
