Google G1 Phone Applications

I am a total app junkie. From the useful apps like a flashlight to the silly games. What I am not thrilled with is the “Market”. The sorting options suck, they need to allow for more targeted searching so I thought I would start my own list of decent apps I have found and what they do.

1. Spiral Defense – I LOVE this game. It is a tower defense game thatyou can easilly play for hours on end. I think it was a buck or 2 and totally worth it.

2. Bubble – Useful app, I use it all the time. It is a level that is very accurate and really nice when you can only find a HUGE level.I used it to level a LCD TV and shelves in my sons room.

3. Scrambled Net – another fun game that is free so there is a bonus. The game is based on the “pipes” type games. It is pretty mindless and fun when waiting in a DR office or something. Has the ability to shut off the sounds.

4. HideNSeek – This is a useful utility for hiding your files on your G1, when you open it from the menu it pops a flashlight up and then you hit menu 3 times and are prompted for a password. The only down side I have seen from the app is you need to remember to CLOSE the program when you leave or then anyone can access the program.

5. Statusinator – Good Face Book app. Allows you to upload pictures right to your wall as well as see friends updated status and update yours as well. If you tap to a feature not supported it takes you right to facebook to see that thing. I use this app every day.

Ok so there is my top 5 G1 apps I will add more as I go through them. I will try and let you know which ones blow too.

My American Idol 2009

matt As a loyal American Idol viewer I make my pick every year of who I want to win. I also do my top 5 .. this is the list of who I think will win (very rarely is the person I want to win the person I think will win –SIGH–) Ok so on to my fav Idol.

Matt Giraud- there is something about this kid and I don’t know what it is. More then likely it is that gravely blues thing going on with his voice. I was shocked to see him in the bottom 3 a few weeks back, and have decided that was Idol playing with the numbers again because they wanted to keep Crazy Megan. Yes I have a very conspiracy theory view of Idol. I think they send the people home who are voted off, but I also think sometimes they play with the bottom 3 to try to get results they want.

I will say, that even though they are touting this group as the best ever (like every year) I am not seeing it. I think that seasons 4,5, and 6 were definitely the hay day. Last year was a snore! This year isn’t turning out much better. I watch every week and find myself more and more talking through the performances and ignoring what is going on. I think it is a multitude of reasons, but the main one for me in the new stage.. HATE IT! I liked the closeness of the other set. I liked being able to actually SEE the band.

Everquest 10 Years and Counting

gabs With the 10 year anniversary of Everquest upon us I took time to look around the EQ website and read up on the event. This got me a thinking about the old days,so I decided to log in, just for the fun of looking around for a few. Got online and did the customary /who all friends just in case any of my old buds were online. No such luck. Then I checked out the /claim and got my 10 year cake! Yeah! Did a /played for my own information, my first character isn’t quite at 10 years yet, not until February. Then I noticed I had a bunch of other claims available to me.

One was odd had like 1000 uses left to it. Gift of Lost Legacies.. so I claimed it. I received two 10 stack of potions 3 pieces of armor all better then what I had on .. it was the Defiant stuff.. a new weapon (which I did have better of) and a book with 5 charges of port to PoK. I think this is awesome, part of the problem I have had in the past with trying to go back to Everquest, is that my gear just is not good enough for the newer zones. This allows me to gear back up and go hunt without having to go back to the older expansions that no one is in to get re geared. One of the potions is the Adventurer Potions which allows you to increase your exp for 30 minutes. I guess you can now buy these with real cash. So they have given returning players 5 hours of increased exp which is nice. I have not checked out the new mercenary system, but I think it has something to do with hiring PC’s to hunt with you. I find that kind of sad, means that the server populations have dropped so much people need to hire people to hunt with them. eqtheme

Ok So it isn’t NEW but my Microsoft Wing ROCKS!

Alright so as I have talked about before I do technical phone support for a data recovery company. Any who the deal is I do that from home, more often then not. I have to have the ability to email people while on the go and still have the ability to sync up with Outlook on my desktop. I also was going to be buying this as my personal cell phone, so I wanted all the cool stuff you can get in something like an iPhone without having to own a Mac product. (I don’t want to hear it .. I am anti-mac and that is that) So here is the deal, I can have this Wing through T-Mobile and it allows me to be able to run ActiveSync, which honestly installed with out a problem. With other PDA’s I have had it was always a headache getting the darn thing working with the PC. It has a 2.0 mega pixel camera, MP3 player, Microsoft Office Mobile, as well as the ability to be logged into 3 different Instant Messaging client. I would have to say though the coolest thing about it is the ability to one switch from T-Mobile Internet service to and WiFi hotspot, and two the integration of the media on the phone with all the applications. I can take a picture, bring it in to my viewer, edit it, and then send it in a message. With all the iPhone hype I just thought I would give you all an alternative.

Mythbusters Where Has All The Fun Gone?

So let’s start with I WAS a huge Myth Busters fan. I really couldn’t get enough of this show. The appeal of geeks having a show making a ton of cash doing geek stuff was just too much. I don’t currently watch the show anymore and I am going to give the reasons why. The very first reason might have to be loss of Scottie Chapman, who was just the coolest and had also been there since the beginning. The fact they didn’t even mention it and then replaced her with Grant, who is not a geek but just a dork, was kind of a let down. Now we have to watch Grant and Tory fawn over the most irritating TV personality to come along in awhile, Kari. Ya know I used to like her.. thought she really is a cool geek chick until I saw this, then I just thought.. what a hoe.. trying to play on geekz with being cheap. Now combine that with the fact that Adam and Jamie are not on the show as much, and lets be real, they are the reason to watch. Also combined with the fact they don’t do really dangerous stuff anymore, I mean really if I have to hear how they can’t do this or that because of insurance purposes anymore I might just barf.

Now the reason I am bringing this entire thing up is tonight is the Myth Busters new Discovery Channel Shark Week special, actually in 40 minutes I am going to sit and watch it. I hope this is a good show filled with ridiculous experiments that put Adam in REAL peril.. like the time he scorched off the hair on his body, not just another wanna be special effects show, if that is what I want to see I will go watch a movie with the money to give it to me.

Commonly asked Myspace Mobster Questions and Help

I would have to say that on a daily basis I get about 50 emails asking different questions about MySpace Mobster. A lot of the time these are the same question so I wanted to make a post to point people too and also so people have a place to post their questions.

Q. How do I grow my mob?

A. There is a lot of answers to this question but the easiest way I have found to cause some growth is to invite people to your mob with a lot of mobsters already, they will usually have a Myspace Friends Category that they will add you too. Once in that category you can see all the friends they have that also play mobster and are more than likely looking for more friend invites.

Myspace Mobster Mob Wide Bulletins Getting WICKED Irritating

Here is the deal people, I do care whatcha have to say but I also care about who attacked me, who punched me, and who put a hit on me. When we post all those bulletins straight to the Mobster API then a lot of the other things we want to know from that window are getting bumped off. I think the best thing that could be done would be for the coder of the plug in to separate it out. They should put bulletins in one window, attacks in another window, and mobsters who have been added in another. That would solve the problem of people getting frustrated about all the bulletins causing their damage to fall off. I think they should also remove it from posting a bulletin to our MySpace area personally that way we can go into Mobsters and see all the stuff to do with mobsters. I missed the birth of a friend’s baby with all the bulletins LOL. I have met a lot of new great friend because of Mobster, but on the other side some of the people on my friends are just other mobsters I don’t have contact with, I mean really how the hell I would talk to 700 people. So it would be nice if I could keep the “myspace” stuff separate from the “mobster” stuff. Let me know if you think I am wrong, also I know people in the know read this blog so post if you can think of anything else to improve.

Mobster, Heroes and Mafia Wars My now SUPER addiction

Ok so now I am lvl 26 in mobster on myspace I have upward of 100 friends and a ton of cash banked. I am sitting around waiting for more stamina and energy all the time and although I LOVE MOBSTER I don’t have anything to do in between. So I start looking around and due to my great new mobster friends I have been invited over and over again to mafia wars. This plug in is another awesome one. Want to know why, because it is EXACTLY like mobster, so if you had started mobster and did not really known what the hell you were doing this is great, gives you a fresh start so you don’t go wasting up those Godfather points and all. As for the whole Heroes thing well it rocks. Again because the setup is exactly like Mobster except now it is swords and spells and owning kingdoms. Normal Geekz Playing Rock Band

Ok so here is the deal I spend a lot of my time watching youtube videos of people playing Rock Band and Guitar Hero. The one trend that I have seen is that all these videos seem to be of people who are awesome at it, but what about us regular folks that are playing for the sheer fun of the game. That is why I wanted to make this video of me and my kids playing.

So to set the scene this is me, my 2 sons and my soon to be brother in law. My sister is the camera “person” and isn’t happy about it either.. She totally didn’t want to have to film us. We have been playing for about 3 hours now when we decide to get the camera out. Myspace Mobster How To Get A Bigger Mob

Ok so last week I wrote about my addiction to this silly plug in. Now this week I will give you some insight on how to grow your mob. First things first I am going to give you a link to my personal myspace http://www.myspace.com/jacquibest next you need to just add me as a friend. After that I will send the mobster invite and add you to my Mobster Category under my friends. The category is all of my mob friends, you can add all of these people to your mob, some are easy with a simple add and some are using that silly CAPTCHA, either way all are using Mobster and will be more than happy to join your mob. Now here is the key to getting a huge gang going a lot of my mobsters keep a Mobster friend category as well. You can then go in to all of their mobster categories and add all of those people. There is a ton of new “groups” popping up on myspace for Mobster, but I have found they are not as good as the method listed above, I belong to a few of them and I haven’t seen many invite because of it. Also I like the idea of the whole mob being intertwined with each other kind of helps give you that MOBSTER feeling. An example of this would be one of my mob pals was having a problem with another guy, he posted a bulletin about that problem and we all whacked the guy!
